In early June 2008 EUROMAP has awarded the contract for a market study on the plastics industry in the Near and Middle East to AMI – Applied Market Information in the United Kingdom . The assignment was preceded by a request for proposal with several market research specialists.
Geographic scope of the study is the Gulf Cooperation Council which covers Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait as well as Oman. Contents of the study will address the economic, social and political background, will map status and development of the local raw material manufacturing and picture the structure of the local machinery manufacturing industry as well as the market size. Focus of the study is the plastics converting industry and perspectives of the main fields of application – the packaging and construction industries, other customer branches will be touched. A summary is to present market size and growth, threats and opportunities deriving strategic recommendations to fend-off competition from non-European countries. Works on the study are to be completed in early 2009 and the contents presented on the day prior to the opening of ARABPLAST 2009 in Dubai.
